strongMessier 82/strong taken on January 23, 2011 (also known as strongNGC 3034/strong, strongCigar Galaxy/strong or strongM82/strong) is the prototype[5] nearby starburst galaxy about 12 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. The starburst galaxy is five times as bright as the whole Milky Way and one hundred times as bright as our galaxy's center.[5]
